Logistics
Silal Central Market

Executive Summary

A Cornerstone of Oman’s Food Security

Silal is Oman’s central, purpose-built wholesale market for fresh produce—a bonded, state-of-the-art facility that brings storage, trade, customs, laboratory testing, and ancillary services together under one roof.

Developed from the ground up, it addresses a critical national need: modernising the fresh produce supply chain and strengthening Oman’s long-term food security.

Replacing the legacy market, Silal serves the country’s largest population catchment and consolidates a previously fragmented trade into modern, efficient infrastructure. With more than 500 wholesale units and cold stores, and over 2,500 daily produce transfers, it represents critical national infrastructure in the truest sense—the kind of essential, hard-to-replicate asset Rakiza is built to own.

As a 60% owner, Rakiza has played a central role in bringing Silal to life and ensuring it performs as intended. Our involvement has spanned the full greenfield journey, from project managing and delivering the facility within a compressed timeline to driving commercial success by increasing occupancy across its refrigerated warehouses and optimising the tenant ecosystem.

As the market continues to scale towards full utilisation, we remain focused on strengthening its financial performance. Our objective is to ensure Silal not only fulfils its strategic role in supporting Oman’s food security but also delivers resilient, long-term value for both the nation and our investors.
