Helios Towers Oman
Executive Summary
The infrastructure behind Oman’s connectivity
In 2022, Rakiza and Helios Towers acquired Omantel’s tower portfolio. This was a landmark privatisation of Oman’s telecom infrastructure that created the first fully independent passive infrastructure operator in the region.
Helios Towers Oman owns and operates more than 2,650 towers across the country, providing the shared passive infrastructure that mobile network operators depend on and underpinning the national rollout of 5G.
As an independent operator, Helios Towers allows multiple operators to share a single tower network rather than each building their own — a model that lowers costs, accelerates coverage, and extends connectivity into every region of Oman. It is essential digital infrastructure for a fast-growing market, with long-term, contracted revenue and room to grow.
Rakiza holds a 30% interest in the business. For Helios Towers, entering the region for the first time, we were the ideal partner — bringing the regulatory insight, relationships, and on-the-ground market knowledge that complement their global operational expertise.
Our asset management has focused on establishing the company’s commercial presence from the ground up and working closely with mobile operators and regulators to catalyse coverage across the country. The results are tangible: since acquisition, the colocation ratio — the average number of tenants on each tower, and the single most important driver of value in this business — has risen from 1.1x to 1.8x.
